As a platform that aims to bring complex and fascinating subjects of engineering, computing, science, and philosophy of science to a broader audience, we at SiliconWit acknowledge that it is possible that understanding nature may require more than just reason, science, and critical inquiry. However, we use these methods as they yield objective evidence that is independently verifiable, and hence, form the basis of our approach.

Core Values

  1. We are committed to reason, science, and critical inquiry as the best means of understanding the world and solving human problems. We will strive to be objective, accurate, and unbiased in all of our work and interactions.

  2. We recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every person and will not engage in discrimination or harassment of any kind. We will treat all individuals with respect and empathy, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or other factors.

  3. We support the separation of supernaturally-inspired organisations and states and we do not support religious dogmatism and superstition. We will not impose our beliefs on others, and we will respect the right of individuals to hold their own beliefs.

  4. We are committed to democracy, human rights, and social justice, and will oppose all forms of tyranny and oppression. We will strive to be inclusive, respectful, and empathetic in all of our interactions.

  5. We believe in the importance of compassion and empathy and will work to improve the lives of others. We will strive to make the world a better place for all people.

  6. We will strive to lead ethical lives, guided by reason and empathy, rather than religious texts or the authority of religious leaders.

  7. We believe in the importance of personal freedom and self-expression and will not support conformity or authoritarianism.

  8. We will be transparent about any conflicts of interest that may arise in our work or interactions.

  9. We will take action in case of any violation of this code of conduct and will take appropriate measures to address the issue.

  10. We expect all members of our community, including readers, contributors, and partners, to abide by this code of conduct.

Room for Improvement

Our code of conduct is inspired by the principles outlined in the Humanist Manifesto III (American_Humanist_Association, 2003), which emphasizes the importance of reason and science, the responsibility to lead ethical lives, and the importance of compassion and empathy. In addition, we strive to foster an inclusive and respectful community, where people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives can come together to engage in open and civil dialogue, while promoting the principles of reason, science, and critical inquiry. We respect the dignity and worth of all individuals, communities, and societies, while recognizing that we do not necessarily endorse any particular beliefs or ideologies held by them. Additionally, we recognize the importance of protecting the environment and are open to the possibility of the existence of higher powers.

We encourage all members of our community to review this code of conduct periodically for any updates or changes. By participating in the SiliconWit community, you agree to abide by this code of conduct and to hold yourself accountable to these principles.
